NANCY LIVE

    NANCY LIVE

NANCY Live aka Lauren Rusowicz is an exciting unpredictable talent. The UK-raised live artist is enjoying plenty of well-deserved word of mouth buzz, thanks to her acid-soaked live sets in gritty sweaty clubs. After twelve years of DJing in prestigious venues like Ibiza’s Sankey’s, Space and Warehouse Project (Manchester), she moved to Dublin four years ago and began to work on her own sound, switching to live shows instead of DJing and now identifies as a musician who plays all her synths and drums live ‘like a [techno, acid and house] band’. How heavy or melodic she goes on stage depends on how she reads the crowd, but she can’t resist deploying some OTT acid techno while she gets into her sets and headbangs to the point of whiplash. When not playing live (e.g. Printworks, WHP with Patrick Topping, headlining in Irish and UK cities), NANCY Live records her tracks in her home studio and currently has an impressive suite of planned releases TBC, joining a back catalogue of tracks on labels like WE Are The Brave, and He.She.They. The young Lauren began DJing learning to mix on the Numark turntables she bought with her first paycheck at 16, graduating to her first ‘proper’ residency at 21. Her main musical focus is on melody, beginning with the 50s music she heard as a child, especially singers like Doris Day. ‘If you strip back a pop song today, you’ll know what it is even with no singer. Back then, if you took away the singer, you wouldn’t have a clue what the track was. That’s why melodics is my fave part of music.’ Other early influences are trance circa 1996-2000, Orbital, Sasha, Underworld, Prodigy, The Shamen, Moby, Josh Wink… music played by her big sis while getting ready to rave, watched and absorbed by the 8 year old NANCY Live who then and there, decided to make music her life and career. Her refusal to care about looking cool makes her one of the most authentic and dare we say - genuinely cool artists on the current scene. Going her own way and ‘bloody loving it’.
